I have been quilting intensively for five years using non-traditional quilting techniques. I rely on improvisation and work directly with the fabric on a design wall. My focus has been on exploring colour, shape and texture as they relate to painted and hand dyed textiles. Most of my quilts are machine-pieced and quilted, some are hand quilted.
More recently I have been preoccupied with the stitched drawing. I am less interested with quilt embellishment and more with how the stitched line and its relationship to drawing can be incorporated into textile art. I want to generate new imagery through this medium.
